Greener Operations
We are continuously working to reduce energy and water consumption, improve waste management and limit the use of chemicals, investing in solutions such as heat pumps, solar panels, LED lighting and water-saving taps. The electricity consumed across all our resorts is matched with renewable energy Guarantees of Origin, while we also generate our own renewable energy. We have eliminated single-use plastics from almost all areas of our operations, retaining only a limited number of essential items in our kitchens for health and safety reasons. At the same time, we work with our suppliers to reduce plastic packaging. Garden waste is composted, food waste is converted into compost or biofuel, while treated water is fully reused for irrigation at all resorts with wastewater treatment facilities. Through these practices, we are reducing resource consumption and the amount of waste sent to landfill, while progressing towards our goals of net-zero emissions from our direct operations and purchased energy by 2030, eliminating single-use plastics and achieving zero waste to landfill.
Community Support
Over 60% of the products currently used at our resorts are sourced from local and domestic producers, small businesses and cooperatives, supporting the economies of the destinations in which we operate. We also partner with local restaurants and invite our guests to discover the flavours and culture of each destination through our Local Discovery programme.
Inspiring collaborations
Our support extends to the needs of local communities through partnerships and initiatives across education, health, social care, culture, and environmental protection. Each year, we support more than 60 non-profit organisations in Greece and Spain, including schools, hospitals, refugee shelters and cultural associations. Through these partnerships, we contribute to marine and wetland conservation, environmental protection and animal welfare through donations, bird population monitoring and educational programmes.
Eco Adventures
Ikos offers a fascinating range of eco-adventures for the whole family, from kids’ eco-learning programmes to wildlife experiences for all ages. Our littlest guests can explore the unique biodiversity of each resort, becoming marine scientists, forest explorers and expert botanists. We also offer bird-watching, hiking, garden tours and more.
Ikos goes green with electric MINI Countryman
Guests can explore the open coastal roads at each of our beachfront resorts in a more sustainable way, with a complimentary electric MINI Countryman for a day. Uniting adventure, luxury, and sustainability, we’re enhancing the Local Drive Adventure, part of our Local Discovery programme, by providing fully electric MINI Countryman cars to our guests, at any of our resorts.
